إجادة لغة أخرى بجانب اللغة الأم بات مطلبًا ضروريًّا للقبول في أغلب الوظائف، فبخلاف فوائد تعلّم اللغات والتي منها التعرف على ثقافات جديدة، وزيادة مهارات التفكير، فإنها تفتح فرصًا جديدة سواء للعمل، أو الدراسة. فكيف يمكن تعلم لغات بطريقة علمية؟ أفادت دراسة بجامعة هلسنكي بفنلندا حول قدرة المخ على استيعاب اللغة، أن الاستعراض المتكرر للكلمات يحث الاستجابة العصبية السريعة، والتي تعمل على إنشاء ذاكرة لتتبع هذه الكلمات، مما يؤدي إلى سهولة حفظها وتذكرها. وخلال عملها على أطروحة الدكتوراة، حللت ليلي كيمبا -الباحثة الرئيسية بالدراسة- ديناميكية استجابة الدماغ للكلمات الجديدة عند التعرّض لها لفترات قصيرة، إذ قامت بقياس درجة النشاط العصبي لمجموعة من المتطوعين المتحدثين للفنلندية باستخدام تقنية تخطيط أمواج الدماغ، وذلك في أثناء تعرّض المتطوعين لسماع بعض الكلمات باللغة الفنلندية، وسماع كلمات بلغة أخرى. من أجل دراسة التأثير، تم تقديم الكلمات الجديدة إلى المتطوعين لمدة 30 دقيقة، إما عن طريق الاستماع المباشر إلى الكلمات وتكرارها، أو من خلال الاستماع إلى بعض الخطب التي تتكرر فيها تلك الكلمات. أظهرت النتائج...
